MINISTRY and groups that we run

Welcome to SFTN groups and MINISTRY

Welcome to our Altar ministry team.  We are a small group of Spirit filled individuals who provide a comfortable and secure atmosphere during and after the Altar call.

We have different roles within the team, some need to be strong as they will be catching people when they are prayed for. We also have some people with modesty cloths and tissues as needed during the ministry time.

Please speak to David Aitken, if you have a heart to serve our Pastors and the body, with sensitivity and confidentiality.

Welcome to Communion Serving

This is the ministry that prepares and serves communion to the congregation on a monthly basis during the morning service.

By joining our dedicated group of helpers, you will be serving the body of Christ in a practical and important way as an integral part of the worship.

We are a growing team and always looking for new servers to join us. If you would like more information or to join the team, please contact us here.

We support the New Zion Christian Fellowship Foodbank, who are partnered with Foodbank, an organisation dedicated to serving those in need in the local community. Each week around 40-50 people who have been given food vouchers by their care professional are provided with a free emergency food parcel to help them, whilst in difficult circumstances.

This is an excellent opportunity for us as a church to meet the needs of our community and beyond.  Just adding one extra item to our shopping each week could make such a real difference to a family in need.

We have a basket in the Café for all donations, so please help support this worthwhile cause by donating food items.

“…for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”  – Matthew 25:35 – 40

The welcome team is there to:

  • Cheerfully greet people and help them to feel at home.
  • Identify newcomers and introduce them to our facilities and help to link them in with other people.
  • Identify any special needs and ensure they are catered for.

By joining the “welcome team” you will be an ambassador for both HIC and God.  You will also get to know your brothers and sisters in Christ better and help you to grow as a family.

If you are looking for ways to link in and serve within the church, if you enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, then this may be the place for you … please do come and join our friendly team.

Called to Serve: “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men” – Ephesians 6:7

The Heartbeat of Kids Church

The Kids Church is a place where we will support, equip and encourage children to build and strengthen their relationship with God, become who God has created them to be and discover their destiny.

It is a place we want every child to experience God personally, discover who they are in Christ and grow in the understanding that they are loved, accepted and made in the image of God.

Our desire is to consistently demonstrate the love of God to our children so they will not only learn about Jesus but also cultivate a hunger for God’s Word and a passion to pray and worship together.

Welcome to the Bible College ministry where we endeavour to equip believers to be more effective in ministry, to grow spiritually and help them to fulfill their potential.

We have developed the Bible College over several years and are continually working to adjust, improve and ensure the courses are relevant today.

We are about to start an exciting new stage of development which we hope will benefit the whole church.

By joining this ministry, you will be helping to bring the Bible College not only to your church family but also to the wider Church.

If you have a heart to see the Bible College grow and develop, to encourage and support students, then this could be the ministry for you.

Please speak to Michael Vincent about joining the ministry or attending a course.

Welcome to – CAP Money Ministry – A simple but effective way of teaching people to manage their personal finances.

Cap Money has been running at HIC for over 5 years. It is a dynamic and exciting system that helps people manage their money by using a tried and tested system.

This ministry helps people towards independent financial security. By joining the team, you will support people on the course and also work towards becoming a CAP Money coach. This will enable the ministry to grow by running more courses and so reach more people.

If you can smile, add up (and subtract too) eat biscuits, drink tea and coffee and have a sense of humour, then you may well be the person we are looking for. A knowledge of ‘Moneysavingexpert.com’ tips may also be helpful! If this appeals to you and you wish to know more, then please come and have a chat with one of the team here

Welcome to the connect group ministry. This is a place where we get together in a relaxed and social atmosphere in homes spread over the local area, where we can get to know each other on a more personal and spiritual level, which is not always possible in the busy and larger body of the church.

By joining a connect group you will experience warm fellowship where we study and discuss the Word, pray for each others needs and grow together in the vision of the house. We invite you to become part of a smaller family group where any questions, fears and doubts can be shared and prayed over. If you have a heart for intercession, growing in the Spirit and outreach then this may be the place for you to become part of an early church type meeting where you can harness the forces that will shape your future and where you can expect the miraculous.

Please speak to Pastors John & Carole Collins about joining a group or leading one.

The purpose of this group is to give moral support to all mothers who are about to or have given birth in the past two years. The door will be open to Christian and non-Christian mums and whoever would like to connect with others in the same situation. We also welcome ladies who are planning to embark on this journey of a life time!

Everyone will be given a chance to open up, get advice and socialize during what some times it could be overwhelming time.

There will be an opportunity to pray together, share scriptures, open talks and share about any challenges they are going through.

The aim of the group is to reach out to those ladies who do not know Christ and really just be an example of what a life with Jesus could be like. It will not be done in a forceful way but simply be available, loving and caring o those in need and allowing the love of Christ to flow through and the Holy Spirit to do the work.

We offer a variety of avenues for women to get involved and also ways you can be ministered to.  Every Woman is designed to fit every woman in every season of life. We believe that every woman has purpose and meaning in her life for the Kingdom and we want to partner with you to help you fulfill that mission and become the woman God desires you to be!

For more information about this ministry, please email the church office by using the contact form.

The Catering Ministry covers all aspects of the food and beverages offered at Church, from the teas and coffees served after the Sunday services in the refectory, so we can enjoy a chat in a relaxed environment, to the food provided at larger Church events.

Willingly putting Jesus’ teaching into practice and serving others is something that we are called to do, and not only encourages fellowship within the teams but develops skills that we might not have recognised within ourselves.

So, if you have a heart to willingly serve in this way, please join our Team.

Inviting all men to join us for regular breakfasts with inspiring guest speakers. It’s so important for us to spend time together as the men of the church, to get to know each other, to share on current, relevant issues and to pray for and support one another.

We want to encourage men in their personal spiritual growth.  This happens as men build relationships with one another. We want to equip men to be spiritual leaders in their homes, places of business, church, and community.  We want to see our men grow to become the leaders that God desires for them to be.

These events are advertised on the website, church news casts and church bulletins.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the

Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

The evangelism ministry in HIC is responsible for sharing the good news of God’s love with people who may not have heard it before,

and also preparing people to make or renew their commitment to Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and saviour. It is essentially participating in God’s

mission to transform the world through the church under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

Our expectation in the evangelism ministry is essentially:

  • To encourage the congregation in love to reach out to all people within their sphere of influence with the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
  • To call all people to a personal relationship with Jesus (assist them in knowing the Holy Spirit intimately and becoming true disciples of Jesus Christ).
  • To inspire, train and encourage people in Christian living and witnessing.
  • To explore and use a variety of ways to bring the message of Jesus to all people.
  • To encourage and assist our pastor’s in expanding the ministry.

You’re a great fit for this ministry if you are:

  • professing and committed Christians.
  • able to approach and communicate to people of all ages, race and culture with respect, integrity, humility and kindness.
  • open to the leading of the Holy Spirit and willing to learn how to evangelise and conduct themselves in a way approved by the leadership of the church.
  • willing to pray and work together in love as a team helping each other discover, encourage and develop individual spiritual gifting and talents.

Please the office on 01707 322 244 for more information.

Welcome to the Nursing Home Ministry. A place where you impact the valuable lives of the older generation during a time where they  experience pronounced feelings of loneliness, frustration, worthlessness, and pain – and you can help them take back their joy, strength and zeal for life, as they embrace the message of the good news of the cross.

By joining the Nursing Home Ministry, you will attend  one of the Nursing Homes once  a month, with a zealous team of people to preach the good news of Jesus Christ and worship together with the folk, in the safety of their environment.

If your heart is for the weak to say, “I am strong”, if  your heart is to preach the good news to the lost, set captives free spiritually, emotionally and mentally; to bind up the broken-hearted, give a voice to the voiceless and empower others to start afresh, even in the later years of their lives, then this may be the place for you.

Please contact the office on 01707 322 244 for more information.

Welcome to the Prison Ministry. This is the place where we envision a future in which countless prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families, are not only empowered but redeemed, restored, and reconciled in the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

By joining the Prison Ministry, you will connect with others who are spreading the gospel of the good news outside the four walls of the church and experience a fulfillment and satisfaction of bringing freedom and hope as well as seeing lives transformed for the glory of Jesus.

If you have a heart  to preach the good news to the lost, set captives free spiritually, emotionally and mentally; to bind up the broken-hearted, give a voice to the voiceless and empower others to start afresh, then this may be just the place for you!

Please contact the office on 01707 322 244 for more information.

Welcome to the Pastoral Care Ministry.

This ministry is responsible for the care and support of church members and their families.

James 2:14-26 tells us that ‘faith without works is dead’, and that as believers, we must be active in caring for those who are in need.  However, our over-arching passion for helping others is rooted in, and driven by, our love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and a willingness to demonstrate His love and compassion to those around us.

When Jesus commissioned Simon Peter, the rock on which His church was to be built, Jesus asked Simon Peter three times, “Do you love me?”  When Simon Peter answered “Yes” to each question, Jesus gave him a command to ‘feed His lambs’ and ‘take care of His sheep’ ( John 21:15-17 ).   As born-again believers, it is this love that compels us to back up our faith in Jesus with action.  We are the body of Christ, His hands and His feet in the world today.

If you love the Lord Jesus, and have a heart for helping others, then this ministry is for you.  We have a team of volunteers who serve in all manner of ways, some of whom are formally trained in special areas of care, but many are just passionate believers with a heart to serve and support this ministry within the church.

We cover many aspects of pastoral care including, hospital and home visits, crisis intervention, parent and family support, money management, mental health counselling, bereavement counselling, and general practical help, to name but a few.  Furthermore, for some areas of support additional training may be available to assist the volunteers in their role.

If you wish to get involved with this ministry please contact the church office on 01707 322244 during office hours.

Welcome to the Prayer ministry. This ministry was created to support the church through intercessory prayer and supplication in love and oneness with the Holy Spirit. The following is only a partial list of those for whom we offer intercessory prayers for: all in authority (1 Timothy 2:2); ministers (Philippians 1:19); Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6); friends (Job 42:8); fellow countrymen and country (Romans 10:1); the sick, afflicted and unsaved (James 5:14); enemies (Jeremiah 29:7); those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44); those who forsake us (2 Timothy 4:16); and all men (1 Timothy 2:1).

Some of what to expect from the Ministry

  • By joining the Prayer Ministry you can expect to experience supernatural, spiritual growth in intimacy and love not just with fellow believers and non believers alike but most importantly with the person of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 6:18)
  • One can expect to grow and develop in the area of faith in our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ as a result of witnessing firsthand, the amazing miracles and testimonies that can only be attributed to His grace and understanding that whatsoever we pray for in faith and believe with our hearts in line with the will of God shall be accomplished. (Mark 11:23-24)
  • Being part of the team will enable us understand the power of Forgiveness. Having a Forgiving heart is a core requirement for ALL in the team that desire answered prayers. Prayers must be made with a forgiving heart. (Mark 11:25-26).
  • The ministry will help develop our persistence in the things of God and will ensure we are people that do not give up easily until we have accomplished that which our prayer/ word was set out to achieve in line with the perfect will of God. (Luke 18: 1- 18)
  • The word of God will be revealed by the Holy Spirit in greater measure as we wait upon the Lord and as a result we will understand God’s plan for our life, ministry, church, community, nation and those around us. (1 John 5 14- 15)
  • On a personal note I have found that the Lord has begun a good work in my heart upon joining this ministry. He has done this by giving me a lot more empathy and patience for others and by helping me understand the real meaning of humility. (Luke 18: 9-14).

What kind of people are we looking for in the team?

God calls all Christians to be intercessors. It is God’s desire that every believer be active in intercessory prayer. What a wonderful and exalted privilege we have in being able to come boldly before the throne of Almighty God with our prayer and requests!

There is an erroneous idea in contemporary Christianity that those who offer up intercessory prayers are a special class of “super-Christians,” called by God to a specific ministry of intercession. The Bible is clear that all Christians are called to be intercessors.

Please call the office on 01707 322 244 for further enquiries.
