Today’s DEVOTION
FRIDAY 10th April– HEBREWS 13:1-5
“Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I have been a pastor for now more than thirty years. In that time I have had to meet and deal with people from all walks of life. From the wealthy to the poor, from the influential, down to those on the very fringes of society who would be considered outcasts. And through it all, one thing is clear…that all the money, prestige and recognition in the world, cannot buy the happiness found in heaven. The obvious question, then, is what makes heaven a happy place? Heaven is not a happy place because of the gates of pearl and streets of gold. Heaven is a happy place, because God is there! And he is not only “there” but He dwells in you 24/7! Therefore, whatever situation you are facing today…remember…Contentment says, “Even if my circumstances are difficult right now, I’m okay, because God is here!”
