PASTORAL CARE

Welcome to the Pastoral Care Ministry.

This ministry is responsible for the care and support of church members and their families.

James 2:14-26 tells us that ‘faith without works is dead’, and that as believers, we must be active in caring for those who are in need.  However, our over-arching passion for helping others is rooted in, and driven by, our love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and a willingness to demonstrate His love and compassion to those around us.

When Jesus commissioned Simon Peter, the rock on which His church was to be built, Jesus asked Simon Peter three times, “Do you love me?”  When Simon Peter answered “Yes” to each question, Jesus gave him a command to ‘feed His lambs’ and ‘take care of His sheep’ ( John 21:15-17 ).   As born-again believers, it is this love that compels us to back up our faith in Jesus with action.  We are the body of Christ, His hands and His feet in the world today.

If you love the Lord Jesus, and have a heart for helping others, then this ministry is for you.  We have a team of volunteers who serve in all manner of ways, some of whom are formally trained in special areas of care, but many are just passionate believers with a heart to serve and support this ministry within the church.

We cover many aspects of pastoral care including, hospital and home visits, crisis intervention, parent and family support, money management, mental health counselling, bereavement counselling, and general practical help, to name but a few.  Furthermore, for some areas of support additional training may be available to assist the volunteers in their role.

If you wish to get involved with this ministry please contact the church office on 01707 322244 during office hours.
